These clips were recorded in the middle room on the first floor of the depot.
Clip 1: The group is getting ready to do a quick EVP session. You’ll hear Laura J call out the order in which we’ll each ask a question. Suddenly, at the 4 second mark, Marcy yawns and tags the sound for the recorders. When Laura J finds out about the yawn, she jokingly asks, “Am I boring you?” which is followed by our laughter.
At the 14 second mark, a disembodied voice says something. Can you make out what’s said?
Clip 2: This is a 2nd generation recording. I ask, “What is the significance of the train number being 1988?” At the 15 second mark, just before the clip ends, a female voice says something. Can you make out what’s said?
(The year 1988 is significant because that is the year when the San Leandro Historical Society moved the train depot to the current location.)
Clip 3: Quentin asks, “Do you ever run the trains by yourself [the spirits, after the people leave]?” A male disembodied voice that sounds somewhat mechanical responds. Can you make out what’s said? I’ve amplified this part of the clip so you can hear the disembodied voice better.
Clip 4: This was recorded during a moment of silence and is a 2nd generation recording. I’ve amplified the entire clip. I can faintly hear what sounds like music playing in the background. At the time of our investigation, there was no music playing. The music is not from a car passing by as, on the 1st generation recording, nothing can be heard at this time.
Clip 5: During an SB7 session, Marcy asks the spirits if they think we’re stupid for sitting around in the dark, trying to talk to them. A male voice comes through the SB7 and clearly says, “Yes, ma’m.” (Well, at least this spirit was polite about it.)
Clip 6: This is a 2nd generation recording and was recorded during our 4 minutes of silence. We gave the spirits 4 minutes where we were silent so they could say whatever they wanted to us. Upon playback of the silence, a disembodied voice says a word. Can you make it out?
Clip 7: Laura J tells the spirits, “Don’t be afraid of Thomas [the Train, one of the model trains on the tracks].” There’s a response although I can’t make out what is being said. It sounds somewhat like a radio but there wasn’t a radio on during our investigation.
