These were recorded in the Bamboo Room.
Clip 1: In this clip, you’ll hear the drone of an airplane flying overhead in the background. I ask, “I’m sitting on a mat on the floor. What is it made of?” There is a response at the 4 second mark. Can you make it out? I’ve amplified this part of the clip so hopefully you’ll be able to hear the response. (And, just for the record, the voice was right!)
Clip 2: Jim says, “…this way and we should…..” Right after he pauses, a voice can be heard saying, “Tell them,” followed by the voice pausing and then finishing with “I’m sorry” right before Chris speaks at the end of the clip. “Tell them I’m sorry.” I wonder who was apologizing and what he was apologizing for? This is a 2nd generation recording.
Clip 3: In this 2nd generation recording, Keena asks, “How long did you stay in this room?” At the 5 second mark, a voice can faintly be heard saying what sounds like, “Just ask them.”
Clip 4: In this 2nd generation recording, Jim says, “So I’m Jim. Is there anything you wish to tell us?” At the 3 second mark, a faint voice says, “And that’s better.” I’ve amplified this part of the clip.
Clip 5: Chris asks, “Did anybody pass away in this room?” You have to wait until near the end of the clip to hear the reply but it’s pretty clear. Can you make it out? This is a 2nd generation recording.
In between Chris and the disembodied voice, you may be able to hear other, very faint voices talking in the background. This came from another group of people who were enjoying the evening outside on the 2nd floor deck; the deck is used by the caretaker who lives onsite.
Clip 6: Marcy says, “They’re drinking and having a nice time.” At the 3 second mark, a voice can clearly be heard saying something. Can you make it out? This is a 2nd generation recording. The male voice does not belong to Jim, the only male in my group that night. It’s also not coming from one of the men outside on the 2nd floor deck; the disembodied voice is very clear and sounds close up to the recording microphone which was sitting on top of the bed in that room.
Clip 7: Keena asks, “How many of you lived in here? In this house?” In between her 2 questions, a disembodied male voice can be heard saying, “I love it.”
