Historic Building (6/12/15), Benicia, CA: First Floor, Part 1

I was fortunate to be involved in a scouting expedition for two sites in Benicia, CA.

This is the first building that we investigated. The building has significance for California, even though it was in use for this purpose for only about a year. In comparison to the other location, this building was much quieter.

The clearest EVPs could be heard on the first floor. Almost all the EVPs I found from the second floor are muffled or otherwise unclear. It makes me wonder if the spirits on the second floor weren’t able to produce enough energy to say things that could easily be heard.

The clips here are the first set that were recorded on the first floor.

Clip 1: This was recorded in the main hallway shortly after we entered the building. The docent says, “It was the city hall”; right after this, a disembodied voice says, “Hello.”

Clip 2: This was recorded in the main hallway, right after I’d heard a disembodied voice in real time say, “Hey.” (Unfortunately, my recorder did not capture this.) In response to what I’d just heard, I say to the spirits, “Hello, hello, hello! I heard you!” In the background, Laura J says, “Oh, yeah.” Before Laura J finishes, a disembodied voice says, “Let’s go talk to him.”

Clip 3: This was recorded in the main room on the 1st floor during the set-up. I say, “Oh my gosh, wow!” Chris responds, “Do you want to touch it [unclear]?” At the 5 second mark, a disembodied voice says, “Touch it [unclear].”

Clip 4: I had returned to the main hallway to turn my mobile phone off. On my way back to the main room, I report that I’d heard a voice say “Shut up” as I walked back into the main room. At the 4 second mark, before I speak, a female disembodied voice can be heard clearly saying, “Shut up!”

Clip 5: Laura J is setting the order in which we’ll as questions for a quick EVP session. She says, “We’ll rotate, like, starting with Ann….” As she says my name, a disembodied voice says what sounds like “Hate her” (thanks, spirits–not) or “Acre” or “Take her.”

Clip 6: Laura J says, “People in the dark just automatically want to, in the dark, whisper because it’s habit…..” As she finishes, a male disembodied voice says, “Ann.”
