USS Hornet (7/28/17): Fo’c’s’le

These clips were recorded in the fo’c’s’le, also known as the forecastle.

Clip 1: You’ll hear the voices of people talking in the background. At the 2 second mark, I can hear a possible male disembodied voice quickly say what sounds like, “Where I am.”

Clip 2: You’ll hear voices again of people talking in the background as Laura J and I set out equipment. At the 3 second mark, a male disembodied voice says what sounds like, “We’re having an air raid,” just before you hear the zipper being pulled.

This is an especially interesting possible EVP. First, the disembodied voice sounds just like the one in Clip 1. Second, the comment could have been something someone on board shouted when the USS Hornet was in service, most likely during World War II when she was involved in significant fighting in the Pacific Ocean.

Clip 3: At the beginning of the clip, you’ll hear the sound of Laura J putting out paranormal equipment. At the 11 second mark, she says, “I don’t need the flashlight” followed by someone human in the group clearing his throat. Right after this, I can hear what sounds like a male disembodied voice say, “Is this going on?”

I’ve included a lot of audio surrounding the possible EVP so that you can get a sense of how quiet the group was during equipment setup. This was our first location of the night and, for the most part, no one talked. (No one in the group had investigated before, and I think they were all silent because they were waiting to see what would happen.)

Clip 4: Laura J says, “I’ll be all excited,” and then, “there’s people talking!” As she says the second part, I can hear a female voice say what sounds like, “Oh my God!” or “All night long.”

Clip 5: This is a second generation recording. Laura J asks the spirits “How many suicides happened on the USS Hornet?” At the 8 second mark, I can hear a male disembodied voice say, “Ten.”
