USS Hornet (7/28/17): Interesting Sounds in Gedunk

The public 3-hour tour (History Mystery tour a.k.a. "Gilligan's Island Tour") on 7/28/17 seemed, on the surface, to be pretty quiet. As usual, though, the audio reveals that a lot more was happening beyond what we could hear with our own ears at the time of the recordings. This clip was recorded in the Gedunk (snack bar). At the beginning of the clip, you'll hear Laura J say that she's taking the group down one level to the Brig. I tell Laura J that I'll stay by myself in the Gedunk while Read more [...]

Meek Mansion, Hayward, CA (1/7/17): Possible EVPs from the Hallway in front of Mr. Meek’s (smaller) Bedroom

These are all 2nd generation recordings from the EVP session my group did in the hallway outside of Mr. Meek's (smaller) Bedroom. Clip 1: Lori asks the spirit to say its name "really, really loud for us." There are 2 faint voices that sound like they're saying "yes." At the end of the clip, a female voice can be heard but it's not clear to me what she's saying. Can you make it out? Clip 2: Mike asks if any of the Meek children or the children of relatives liked to slide down Read more [...]

Meek Mansion, Hayward, CA (1/7/17): Mr. Meek’s (Smaller) Bedroom

These were recorded in Mr. Meek's Bedroom and are all 2nd generation recordings. Clip 1: In this recording, you'll hear some of talking and Chris saying, "But this is how it should be...." As Chris begins to say this, there is a weird sound that was not made by the humans and that wasn't heard at the time of the recording. Clip 2: Yvette asks if there are any other spirits besides Mr. Meek in the Bedroom with us. One of us coughs. Then, at the 8 second mark, a male voice says, Read more [...]

Sacramento Underground Tour (6/11/16): Part 1

These 2nd generation clips were recorded in one of the underground areas that are open for the public tours in Old Sacramento. The underground area is actually the floor of the original city of Sacramento. The flood of 1861-1862 forced the city to raise the floor of buildings by as much as 14 feet in order to escape future floods. We were able to conduct one EVP session in this area. During the session, noises from people walking around Old Sacramento could be heard (footsteps, voices), Read more [...]

Lake Herman Road (5/28/16): Part 3

This is the 3rd part of the clips recorded during several EVP sessions conducted on the turnout on Lake Herman Road. All of these are 2nd generation recordings. Clip 1: Annette is asking if the location attracts evil. At the beginning of the clip and before she speaks, there is a possible EVP. I can hear what sounds like, "Let go" or "Let's go." At the end of the clip (10 second mark and after the car goes by), I can hear a disembodied voice say, "No." Clip 2: Cindy asks, Read more [...]

Lake Herman Road (5/28/16): Part 2

These are all 2nd generation recordings and were recorded during our EVP sessions at the turnout on Lake Herman Road. Clip 1: Chris asks if there is a female spirit present. After her question, it sounds like either someone loudly swallowing or a possible EVP. If it's an EVP, I can't make out what is being said. Perhaps you can. Clip 2: I ask the spirits to let us know what we can do to help them. I can faintly hear what may be the word, "remember" at the 4 second mark. Next, Read more [...]

Lake Herman Road (5/28/16): Part 1

A turnout on Lake Herman Road in the city of Benicia is the location of what is considered the first murders committed by the Zodiac Killer in the San Francisco Bay Area. On the night of December 20, 1968, the bodies of David Arthur Faraday, 17, and Betty Lou Jensen, 16, were found on what was, then, a lover's lane, just off Lake Herman Road. Both had died from gunshot wounds. There were no witnesses and a passing motorist saw the scene and alerted the police. On August 1, 1969, several Read more [...]

USS Hornet (12/27/15): Assorted Sounds on the Ship

On Sunday, 12/27/15, I helped lead a private group, Brentwood Historic Ghost Tours, on a 3 hour tour of the USS Hornet. It was pretty active that night, although most of it was in the form of sounds and EVPs. My group started out on the Bridge. Or, I should say, we tried to start out there. Access to the Bridge was locked and we didn't have a way in. It took us about 10 minutes to figure all this out. Meanwhile, my group stood around in front of the access point to the Bridge. While Read more [...]

USS Hornet Overnight (Paracon, 8/8/15): Chapel

The last few visits, the Chapel has been pretty active. I don't have any EVP clips for this location but there are other experiences that happened. During our time in the Chapel, I sat in the front row. At the front of the room is the altar, a podium, and flags on either side. Throughout our time here, I constantly felt there was someone/something standing behind the flags on the left side (facing the altar), looking at us but not wanting to be seen. In this clip, you'll hear the sound Read more [...]

Train Depot (3/20/15): From Inside the Crawl Space

These clips were recorded on Olympus 2, my other DVR. I'd placed this DVR in the crawl space when we started the investigation in the attic. I left it there as we moved on to other areas of the depot. A total of approximately 3 hours of time was recorded. These are highlights of the sounds heard in the crawl space during these 3 hours. It should be noted that people were not allowed inside the crawl space, although we could set up equipment (like DVRs) in it. Clip 1: Laura J has just opened Read more [...]
